The project

What we built on Cape Cod.

A long fieldstone retaining wall that follows the curve of the hillside at the edge of a wooded lot. The wall holds the slope back so the area in front of it could be graded flat and planted.

The wall is hand-set stone by stone, with the largest stones in the base course. The photo shows the wall just after completion, before final grading and planting.
